The first step to having a pattern & sample made

It’s about to get real. As soon as you’v ieate your design an fille out your tech pack, your pattern maker will nee measurments. Boy measurements are completely ifferent from garment measurements, so while you may be starting out with a reference garment, your pattern maker will need your actual body measurements (or your sample size measurements) to get started.

When it comes to making samples, simply saying you want it to be a size 6 or 16 isn’t enough!

Every size 6 model will have different individual measurements, and unless you want to pay your seamstress double just because you weren’t clear about what a size 6 means to you, gather your measurements. It would be better to simply find the exact type of body you intend to create clothing for, and get these measurements from them.

This will give you a much closer to final pattern in the first go, rather than paying hundreds of dollars to tweak every measurement after your pattern has become a garment.

Ready to get going but not sure which measurements you need? I created a free measurement sheet - feel free to steal mine here!
